Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and authentication details so we can securely sign you in and sync your work across devices.
• Your content. The pieces, projects, notes, todos, submissions, audio recordings, and images you create in the app. This content is yours; we store it to provide the service and sync it across your devices.
• Handwriting scans (OCR). If you use handwriting scanning, the photos you submit are processed to transcribe text into your pieces. Images are used to perform the scan and are stored in your scan history until you delete them.
• Subscription information. If you purchase Haibun Pro, your purchase is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through our subscription provider, RevenueCat. We receive subscription status (e.g., active, trial, expired) but do not receive your full payment card details.
• Usage and device data. Basic, aggregated information about how the app is used and diagnostic data that helps us fix bugs and improve performance.

2. How we use your information

• To provide, maintain, and sync the app and your content.
• To process handwriting scans and generate shareable images.
• To match you with relevant writing opportunities (Pro).
• To manage subscriptions and prevent fraud or abuse.
• To diagnose issues, improve features, and provide support.
• To send you service-related and, where permitted, opportunity notifications you have enabled.

3. How your information is stored

Your account and content are stored using Supabase, our backend and database provider, with access controls that restrict your data to your account. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

4. Service providers and third parties

We share information only as needed with the providers that help us run Haibun, including:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and storage.
• RevenueCat — subscription management.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing.

We do not sell your personal information or your writing, and we do not use your private writing to train third-party AI models.

5. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete individual content at any time, and you can delete your account to remove your associated data. See our Data Safety page for deletion instructions.

6. Your choices and rights

• Access, edit, or delete your content from within the app.
• Control notification permissions on your device.
• Request account deletion (see Data Safety).
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including access, correction, and deletion.

7. Children's privacy

Haibun is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
